Lech Blaine (Australia)
When Lech Blaine was born his intoxicated father named him after the Polish president. He was raised in a series of run-down pubs across the country with a household of foster brothers and sisters. His work has been published in Best Australian Essays, Griffith Review, Scum, Seizure and The Lifted Brow. In 2017, he won the Queensland Premier’s Young Publishers and Writers Award. Lech’s debut Car Crash: A Memoir will be published by Black Inc. in 2020. This will be followed by a trilogy of autobiographies exploring the fault lines of class and trauma within his family and Australia more broadly.
